Computer Forensic Report Analysis/Interpretation

Being faced with a Computer Forensic Report that you do not fully understand can be a daunting experience, especially if you think or know that there must be other explanations for what is being presented.

Any Computer Forensic Report is only as good as the knowledge and experience of the author of the report. All humans are prone to making errors or it may just be that the investigator was lazy did not explore all possibilities.

Computers are complex by nature, so if the determinations in a Report do not look right to you then they probably aren't! Do not assume that the investigator knows all and has covered all possibilities. I can consult with Legal Council faced with a complex Computer Forensic Report, and where necessary inspect the evidence and check the Report for accuracy and completeness.
